Sadaqah 4 You is a grassroots, non-profit, 501(c)(3) charitable organization launched in 2012 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was founded by Salimah Abdus Sabur and supported by volunteers committed to aiding individuals and families undergoing hardships. Our obligation is to provide nutritious food to those families presented with financial hardship.

OUR HISTORY
Since 2012, Sadaqah 4 You has responded to hunger in our community by providing monthly food distribution to families and individuals in need.
In our initial six months of operation, we provided food to 14 families within the Philadelphia region. Word of the food distribution spread rapidly and by the end of our first year we served food to 60 families in need. We quickly learned the importance of having our organization nestled in our community and have continued to fight against hunger and food disparity.
Today, we provide food and other essential resources to 150 families monthly. As we continue to grow and expand, we have an unwavering commitment to provide families and individuals with safe and healthy foods along with other critical services that include education, health services, and financial literacy.

– 70 bookbags stuffed with school supplies distributed
– Qurbani meat distributed

– Global Youth Service Day (health screening, cooking demonstration, healthy food demonstration)

– Toy distribution to masajid and organizations

– 112 Ramadan boxes distribution

– Ramadan gift cards distributed for 3 months

– Summer Food Service Program served 1000 meals a week to children
– 200 turkeys distributed
– 400 coats distributed to men, women and children
2021
– Individuals were provided with contact information for a needy family to receive their Zakatul Fitr, thereby fulfilling their religious obligation

OUR COMMUNITY AIM
Sadaqah 4 You embodies the time-honored tradition of community, of people helping and caring for one another. We are a human service organization for people of all ages and all walks of life, regardless of race or religion. Our obligation is to feed families in need.
Often people in our community have exhausted their funds by the end of the month. The rising costs of food in our economy creates the need for an organization such as Sadaqah 4 You.
Sadaqah 4 You never turns anyone away. Since 2012, we have distributed 1,049,760 pounds of food. We strive to provide a well-balanced supplement to more than 200 households throughout Philadelphia County each month. Our food distribution primarily operates through the efforts of faithful, hardworking volunteers and community-seeking youth. It is the mission of Sadaqah 4 You to help meet the nutritional and social needs of the hungry in the Philadelphia community.
Our food packages often include brown rice, fresh fruits, vegetables, fish and halal meats (zabihah – slaughtered according to Islamic Rites) to families in our communities who are in need of food on a monthly basis. The impact of providing healthy, good, quality food to these families is truly a blessing, and it is our hope to be of service to the Philadelphia community for many years to come.
